Spotlight Plant Photovoltaic Project Officially Put into Operation
Apr 28, 2025
On 28th April 2025, the first phase of 12MW photovoltaic (PV) project of Spotlight Zhangjiagang production base has been successfully connected to the grid and officially had gone life. The PV covers an area of 115,000 square meters, and the annual power generation can reach 1.26 Gigawatt hours (GWh), with an average of 1055.7 hours annual utilization. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 6,498 tons per year, which is approximately equal to the carbon reduction generated by 26,000 acres of forestation project. The successful commissioning of this PV project provides reliable and self-dependent green power for the plant and marks an important step for Spotlight in the field of renewable energy.
Advanced Technology, Stable and Efficient
In the first phase of the photovoltaic project at Spotlight plant, Spotlight cooperates with Three Gorges Energy Group and reasonably utilizes the advantages of the company's existing base to build a carport photovoltaic power station in the area of the plant's finished product garage. The mode of power generation is “self-generation and self-consumption, and the residual power to the grid.” The power generation is expected to account for 30%-40% of the plant's annual power consumption, saving millions RMB in electricity fee each year. The PV project, which is expected to have a lifespan of 25 years, provides a long-term and continuous supply of renewable energy for the plant's production.
The PV modules all adopt monocrystalline silicon solar cell technology, with a high photoelectric conversion rate of over 21%. It not only possesses excellent low-light performance but also is able to maintain stable power generation under cloudy weather. At the same time, Spotlight carries out intelligent management of PV power generation, through carrying PV monitoring system, real-time monitoring of power generation efficiency and equipment operation status, to ensure stable power supply and efficient operation and maintenance.
Green Power Exploration, Sustainability Development
Renewable energy is currently receiving increased attention. PV power generation, as a clean and sustainable form of energy, is widely used around the world. Recently, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) released a report showing that the global installed capacity of renewable energy in 2024 hit a record high, of which, China's new renewable energy power generation accounting for 60% of the total global increase. The commissioning of the PV project is a positive response to the country's “dual carbon” strategy, as well as an effective practice of the company's “sustainable development” philosophy.
Spotlight's exploration in the field of renewable energy utilization is not over, at present, the company is actively planning the second phase of the PV project, which is expected that the installed capacity will reach 18MW. Utilizing the idle roof space of the plant not only realizes the efficient use of land resources but also demonstrates Spotlight's corporate social responsibility of environmental protection and the company's commitment to provide customers with sustainable products from green production and supply chain.
